Description:     Bowling is Special Olympics largest participation sport with 4,424 bowlers in 2006. Bowling is popular because it appeals to all ages and abilities, and is a sport that lends itself to frequent practices during cold winter months. Athletes are very excited to have the opportunity to compete at the state championship.

The Bowling Tournament serves as the state championship for Special Olympics Indiana bowlers—competition includes individual (singles) bowling assisted ramp bowling. Bowlers are required to log eight weeks of training before the final entry deadline of November 26. To compete at the state championship, bowlers must qualify at one of ten Area Tournaments, which are held at Clarksville, Crawfordsville, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Logansport, Muncie, New Albany, Terre Haute, and Valparaiso on the first two weekends of November.
