Description: Hoosier Hysteria is alive and well in Special Olympics Indiana! The Men’s State Basketball Tournament is the third largest event of any state competition—and the largest Special Olympics basketball competition in the world. Held at Indiana State University, the Basketball Tournament enjoys the support of the university community, and is well-attended by families and spectators as they cheer on their athletes.
With four different levels of play, the tournament offers athletes with a varying range of abilities the opportunity to compete. The state competition hosts Team Competition (5-on-5), Unified Sports® Team Competition, 3-on-3 Half-Court Competition, and Individual Skills Competition. 5-on-5 teams are required to play at least two qualifying games prior to the final entry deadline of December 10.
Basketball Sectionals will be held at Boonville, Henryville, Indianapolis, Logansport, Shelbyville, Upland and Valparaiso on March 15. Teams must win at their sectional tournament in order to compete at the state event in Terre Haute.
