Kickoff Conference

Endorsed by the IACP, the FOP and IACLEA, the mission of the Indiana Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is to increase awareness and raise funds for Special Olympics Indiana athletes, and has been effectively doing so since 1984.  Last year, Indiana officers raised over $450,000.  Involvement from you and your officers has allowed us to grow every year.  This conference provides us a chance to inform you of the tremendous opportunities we have as law enforcement to make a difference in the lives of the more than 10,000 Hoosier athletes with intellectual disabilities whom we serve.

You don't need to be a runner to be a Guardian of the Flame.  Please plan to attend and learn why Torch Run is much more than just a "run".  Involvement in Special Olympics is truly one of those occasions where you will receive so much more than you give.

LETR Introduction & Recognition Awards

This class celebrates the accomplishments of 2009.  Officers that made a big impact in 2009 will be recognized for their accomplishments.  New attendees will learn the basics about our Torch Run program structure.  Connect your law enforcement agency with the Special Olympics movement and get involved today!

Cop on a Rooftop

The Cop on a Rooftop event is one of the easiest and most productive events for law enforcement agencies of any size to conduct.  In this session, you will learn how to organize one of these events if you have never done one, or learn how to make your event better.  If you are looking for your first fundraiser and aren’t sure where to start, this is a session you won’t want to miss.  Store assignment will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Community Torch Runs (with SOIN county coordinators)

In 2009, Special Olympics Indiana celebrated our 40th birthday by hosting community torch runs across the state.  This session will continue to expand the community Torch Run calendar to new and veteran Torch Run committees.  Learn the new requirements in 2010 to host a Torch Run in your community.  Involve your local government official, sponsors, athletes and law enforcement for a “Special Olympics Day” celebration that your Special Olympics delegation send-off will never forget.

Torch Ride & Raffle / Tip-a-Cop

Fundraising is a team sport!  Join law enforcement agencies across the state in a competition to sell the most raffle tickets or raise the most revenue through the Tip-a-Cop program.  In this session, you will learn best practices and receive all the materials you will need to start the raffle ticket selling season running or hosting a Tip-a-Cop.  Also, learn about Indiana’s only LETR motorcycle ride fundraiser that culminates with the drawing of the winning raffle ticket.

LETR County Coordinator Training

The county coordinator is an integral piece to the success of the Torch Run program.  Raise your Torch Run involvement by learning how to connect to Special Olympics in your county by becoming an LETR county coordinator.  This class will teach you the LETR organization structure and show you what an impact you can make in your community through the Torch Run programs.  Get more information today and learn how you can make a difference.  No prior LETR experience necessary.
