The Indiana Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics plays an integral role in the annual Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games. Every year on the first Friday in June, law enforcement officers from across Indiana carry the Special Olympics Indiana "Flame of Hope" from Indianapolis to Terre Haute in preparation for the annual Summer Games. Their journey culminates with the lighting of the cauldron at the Opening Ceremonies of Summer Games on the campus of Indiana State University. This Law Enforcement Torch Run relay -- known as the Final Leg -- involves hundreds of officers from law enforcement agencies throughout Indiana.

Summer Games Officer VIP's
This three-day event features state-level Special Olympics competition in seven sports as well as an exiting Opening Ceremonies, Movie Night and Victory Dance. More importantly, it provides Law Enforcement Torch Run participants from across Indiana the unique chance to have guided tours of the Games and present awards to athletes after competitions. There are few experiences like placing a gold medal around the neck of a well-deserving Special Olympics athlete. We hope that you will be able to join us sometime during the weekend as a VIP. If you would like to attend this year's Summer Games as a VIP and honorary awards medal presenter, contact Sarah Luken to sign up and receive the latest information, schedules and maps.
