2009 Final Leg in Idaho
|

| The Final Leg in Idaho promises to be another opportunity to use the Flame of Hope to spread the wonderful message of Special Olympics, to connect with athletes at the marquee event of Special Olympics, and to once again demonstrate the incredible passion and devotion that Law Enforcement has for Special Olympics. The 2009 Final Leg will begin in northern Idaho and cover scores of cities, towns, and communities, to include all of the Host Town Program communities, on the way to the Opening Ceremonies at the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho on February 7th, 2009. |

| The 2009 Final Leg will require a commitment of 12 days for selected runners. Team members will fly into Spokane, Washington on Wednesday, January 28th and immediately transfer to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Team members will be relieved of Final Leg duties and ready to travel home from Boise, Idaho on Sunday, February 8th. |

| Runner Selection Criteria |

| • Selection will be based on established dedication and commitment to Special Olympics and the Torch Run. Candidate should be heavily and currently involved in our Torch Run Program and show outstanding potential for future Torch Run involvement. |
| • Candidate must be a full-time or retired member of a law enforcement agency. |
| • Due to the nature of this event, the candidate must be firmly committed to participating in this event at the time of their selection. Candidate must be able to be away from his/her job for the entire duration of the Final Leg. |
| • Runner should be able to maintain a pace of 10 minutes per mile for 3 miles at a time and have the ability to run 5 miles over 2 or more intervals during the course of a day. |
| • Candidate must possess the stamina to tolerate long days consisting of travel, running, and special event functions. |

| If you are interested in representing Indiana as our law enforcement officer at the 2009 World Winter Games, the online LETR Final Leg application needs to be completed to be considered. Completing the application does not guarantee attendance. All applications need to be completed by Tuesday, September 30th. |
