Healthy Athletes - FUNfitness

The purposes of Special Olympics FUNfitness are to assess and improve flexibility, strength and balance; to educate athletes, coaches, families/caregivers about the importance of flexibility, strength and balance; and to provide a hand-on opportunity for Special Olympics athletes to learn about physical therapy.

Clinical Directors are Licensed Physical Therapist

The FUNfitness discipline provides a screening opportunity for athletes to assess flexiblity of hamstring, calf, shoulder rotator and hip flexor muscles; functional strength of the abdominal and lower extremity muscles; and balance.  Physical Therapists work with athletes and coaches, making recommendations for optimal function in their sports training and competition and discussing warm-ups and risk prevention.

Currently,  Special Olympics Indiana does not offer this discipline.

If you are a Licencesd Physical Therapist and would like to become a Clinical Director for the FUNfitness discipline, please contact Pam Eakin at (800) 742-0612 ext. 232 or by email.
